What FlowDesk is

FlowDesk is a platform for managing requests, complaints and tickets. It runs deployment-per-company (single tenant): it is not a shared SaaS, and every customer runs FlowDesk on their own Kubernetes cluster, in their own database, with their own data. No customer data is held on SHFT’s servers.

FlowDesk is made up of separate container images. Each is developed in its own repository, carries its own version number and is released independently of the others: one installation may be running API v0.2.0 and Dashboard v0.6.0, and both are normal.

Component What it does
API The single owner of the data: the data model, authentication, licensing, e-mail and SMS delivery, and all business logic. The other three components are clients of this API.
Dashboard The management and operations interface agents and administrators use: requests, pools, users, reports, settings.
Tracker The public screen where your customers follow their own requests, with no authentication.
Knowledge Base Optional, and a separate product: an authoring panel for help articles and a public help centre. FlowDesk connects to the Knowledge Base through its integration API. See Knowledge Base for installing and connecting it.
LiveChat Optional, and a separate product: a chat widget your website embeds, an agent console, and reports. One image serves all of it. See LiveChat for installing it and LiveChat widget for embedding.

The API can also be used on its own for integration purposes (see Quick start); the Dashboard and the Tracker are client applications built on top of it.

You install FlowDesk on your own infrastructure with a Helm chart: nothing outside orchestration depends on SHFT’s servers. For the installation steps see Installation.
